Liberty of the subject - Arrest of a ballad singer.

This very interesting newspaper article from the ‘Dublin Morning Register’ 18th August 1832, was sent to me by Brian O’Sullivan recently. It concerns the arrest of a Ballad singer named McCarthy, an itinerant ‘child of song’ who was arrested at the Fair Green, Cahersiveen, for singing some songs of which the name O’Connell and tithes were blended.
