Binneas update

It has been a busy year for Binneas. The meitheals have unearthed a tremendous amount of new material that has required a lot of follow up visits and research.

I have spent two days in the National Folklore Collection in UCD, and with the kind help of Ríonach uí Ógáin (former Director of the National Folklore Collection, and Emerita Professor of Irish Folklore in UCD). New material was uncovered and a few mysteries solved.

The songs in the Binneas collection will shortly be assigned ‘ROUD’ numbers (see- https://www.efdss.org/vwml-catalogues-and-indexes/vwml-help/roud-indexes-help#)

A series of meitheals will take place leading up to Christmas an informal concert of music and song of the Filemore area will take place in November with numerous local participants.
